Automatic Enrollment Homeworld University for Inactive Sims, the easy way:

For automatic enrollment of inactive Sims to your Homeworld University (Uni), you will need NRaas StoryProgression (SP) to push Sims into enrollment once they reach adulthood. To prevent your Homeworld Uni from becoming overcrowded by all sort of Sims (not enough funds, has a traits not suited for Uni) you can define criteria to allow which Sim may participate.

This easy way will guarantee that your Homeworld Uni will be filled with Students. However you have no control, in this way setup, over which Major an inactive will enroll too, neither which career it decides to take, even jobs outside the scope of its major. The latter is not so much a game breaker (yet) cause inactives can't really enjoy the privilege of jumping to level 5 when they get a job in its field of study as actives does (it is reported and may be fixed in the future).

NOTE:
When playing in rotation its possible that your Sim, who's currently studying in your Homeworld Uni, will drop its academic career if you decide to switch to another household without completing its study. Since the code is borrowed from EP University Life (UL) and made available within your Homeworld, there are reports from members that it happened in their games.
Our advise is to finish the study on that Sim you control before rotating.

With this easy way tutorial you will have to create 2 Castes to support your residents:
  • for them to able to enroll into your Homeworld Uni,
  • to take jobs covered within the majors,
  • have the game pick professors.

- 1. Required Mods:

  • Careers Base Mod (to enable the UL Careers within your Homeworld)
  • StoryProgression Base Mod + module Careers SP (needed for more control on what careers inactives are pushed in and assignment of professors in a Homeworld Uni)
  • Traveler To enable maptag icons used in UL to be used in your Home World and few other minuscule UL features to seep through within your Homeworld, see Travelers Revision notes

    • Optional:
      • Careers module Academics (adding one extra Custom Major "Education" and adding self-employed careers to the careers lists)
  • Note: The Education Major itself is broken, it causes Sims missing out classes while it is scheduled. It's best to disallow this Major in your Caste Settings (see 2.2.1.)

- 2. StoryProgression setup, used sources:

SP has settings (as of SP V265 and beyond) in place to define criteria that a Sim must possess or reach to be able to enroll, of course you can make it as easier or difficult as you want, it depends on your preference.

The criteria we'll be using are based on information documented on sources from:

- 2.1.: Disallowing the Career: University Student:

To prevent letting your whole Town go to your Homeworld Uni, you will have to Disallow the Career within your Town Options:
  • CityHall> NRaas> SP> Town Options> Career: Disallow Career> University Student> press Accept

Check within your list of Castes within CityHall> NRaas> SP> Caste Options> "<Caste Names>" if the Career "University Student" isn't activated within the list of "Career: Allow". If it is, use "(Reset To Default)"> Career: Allow> University Student> press Accept, to remove it.

On default SP settings the career is already disallowed in Caste Options within Castes: Teenagers, YoungAdults, Adults and Elders. You don't have to do anything with it if they still are.

- 2.2.: Creating a Caste for Automatic Enrollment to the Homeworld Uni:

Select the CityHall and navigate through this pie selection NRaas> SP> Caste Options, choose "Add New Caste" from the selection menu. A prompt will ask you to give the Caste a name, name it anything you want, for clarity we'll name it "ZZ-UNI Selection" (since the system is alphanumeric sorted, this will put the Caste on the bottom of the list, easier to find).

Find the newly made Caste in your list and open it, all interaction in this template will be shown blank, some will be seeping through from your Town Options (those that you see listed between parentheses (...) ) and doesn't do anything at the moment.

- 2.2.1. Setting up the ZZ-UNI Selection Caste, part one:

Select the following interactions in one go:
(Wait on pressing Accept till you selected all these interactions)

  • Career: Allow
  • Career: Allow Be Professor
  • Career: Allow Find Job
  • Career: Disallow
  • Caste: Automatic> (False)
  • Degree: Allow
  • Degree: Disallow
    • Press Accept

Doing it this way will activate the interactions in the caste and open any selection/prompt boxes when more than one chooses can be made or a value is required from you. Selection/prompt box's will appear in alphanumeric order:

Selection Box; Career: Allow, select:
  • University Student
    • press Accept

Selection Box; Career: Disallow, select:
  • All other Careers/Schools (including any Customs), except University Student
    • press Accept

Selection Box; Degree: Allow, select:
  • Business
  • Communications
  • Fine Arts
  • Physical Education
  • Science & Medicine
  • Technology
    • press Accept

Selection Box; Degree: Disallow, select:
  • Education
    • press Accept

- 2.2.2. Setting up the ZZ-UNI Selection Caste, part two:

Next, select the following interactions for the next query:
(Wait on pressing Accept till you selected all these interactions)

  • Career: Allow Find Job> False ....... (comm: Yes again, it needs to be on True)
  • Caste Filter: Match All Filters> (False)
  • Caste Filter: SimType
  • OPTIONAL: Caste Networth: Min> (-2147483648) ..... (comm: If you only want families to enroll, those with enough funds)
  • Caste: Age> (B,D,C,T,Y,A,E)
  • Caste: Species> (S,C,B,L,H)
  • OPTIONAL: Caste: Trait Require ....... (comm: Only select those who can get extra credits on their aptitude test to receive a scholarship and to prevent your Homeworld UNI to get overcrowded)
    • Press Accept

Again a string of selection/prompt boxes will appear in alphanumeric order:

Selection Box; Caste Filter: Sim Type, select:
  • Degreeless
  • Resident
    • press Accept

Prompt Box; Caste Net Worth:Min, fill in:
  • 25000 .... (comm: Any positive amount you think inactive needs to survive while in UNI)
    • press Accept

Selection Box; Caste: Age, select (needs to be False):
  • Baby> (True)
  • Toddler> (True)
  • Children> (True)
  • Teenager> (True)

NOTE: If you wish Elders not to go to UNI, select them as well.
    • press Accept

Selection Box; Caste: Species, select (needs to be False):
  • Cat> (True)
  • Dog, Big> (True)
  • Dog, Little> (True)
  • Horse> (True)
    • press Accept

Selection Box; Caste: Trait Require, select:
  • Ambitious .... (comm: Major Business, Base Game Trait)
  • Artistic .... (comm: Major Fine Arts, Base Game Trait)
  • Athletic .... (comm: Major Physical Education, Base Game Trait)
  • Avant Garde .... (comm: Major Fine Arts, University Life Trait)
  • Bookworm .... (comm: Major Science & Medicine, Base Game Trait)
  • Born Salesman .... (comm: Major Business, Ambitions Trait)
  • Charismatic .... (comm: Major Communication, Base Game Trait)
  • Computer Whiz .... (comm: Major Technology, Base Game Trait)
  • Eccentric .... (comm: Major Technology, Ambitions Trait)
  • Evil .... (comm: Major Business, Base Game Trait)
  • Flirty .... (comm: Major Communication, Base Game Trait)
  • Frugal .... (comm: Major Business, Base Game Trait)
  • Genius .... (comm: All Majors, Base Game Trait)
  • Good .... (comm: Major Technology, Base Game Trait)
  • Green Thumb .... (comm: Major Science & Medicine, Base Game Trait)
  • Handy .... (comm: Major Technology, Base Game Trait)
  • Irresistible .... (comm: Major Communication, University Life Trait)
  • Loves the Outdoors .... (comm: Major Physical Education, Base Game Trait)
  • Natural Cook .... (comm: Major Fine Arts, Base Game Trait)
  • No Sense of Humor .... (comm: Major Technology, Base Game Trait)
  • Perceptive .... (comm: Major Science & Medicine, Ambitions Trait)
  • Perfectionist .... (comm: Major Science & Medicine, Base Game Trait)
  • Rebellious .... (comm: Major Fine Arts, Generations Trait)
  • Schmoozer .... (comm: Major Communication, Base Game Trait)
  • Social Butterfly .... (comm: Major Communication, Show Time Trait)
  • Socially Awkward .... (comm: Major Science & Medicine, University Life Trait)
  • Virtuoso .... (comm: Major Fine Arts, Base Game Trait)
  • Workaholic .... (comm: Major Business, Base Game Trait)

NOTE:
  • Keep in mind, Sims who has any trait listed above in their 5 personality traits will be assigned to this caste. If you feel that there is too much inactives enrolling to your Homeworld Uni, reduce this list to 2 per major + trait Genius to cover them all.
  • Also Traits are EP required, if you are missing an EP that is mentioned above, don't select the trait even if they are showing in the selection box listing.
    • press Accept

- 2.2.3. Checking your ZZ-UNI Selection Caste and Caste Priority:

Once you done all the steps from 2.2.1 through 2.2.2 the results of your new Caste "ZZ-UNI Selection", should look as this per the interaction you have changed, everything else should remain blank or settings that has seeped over from the Town Options (such noted within parentheses (...) after any interaction that has one) :

  • Career: Allow> 1
  • Career: Allow Be Professor> False
  • Career: Allow Find Job> True
  • Career: Disallow> 56 ....... (comm: default Base Game and Expansion Careers/Schools, Part Time jobs and Self-Employed careers, it can be more when having custom careers/schools installed)
  • Caste Filter: Match All Filters> True
  • Caste Filter: SimType> 2
  • Caste Net Worth: Min> 25000
  • Caste: Age> Y,A,E
  • Caste: Automatic> True
  • Caste: Name> ZZ-UNI Selection
  • Caste: Species> S
  • Caste: Trait Require> 28
  • Degree: Allow> 6
  • Degree: Disallow> 1

To finish the Caste setting, you will have to check your other Castes if either of the interaction listed above in this section has been used, if so, check on which Caste Priority it's been made and make this new caste +1 higher (if the other is 2, make this Caste: Priority> 3 for example)

After having done the Caste: Priority, you are done with this Caste and the next step is...

- 3. Employment after they gained their degree:

Basically all you need is section 2 to have them go to University, once they graduate their Sim Description will change from Degreeless to HasDegree and basically will be put out the Caste "ZZ-UNI Selection" as they no longer match the criteria. They all fall back towards the general Castes within your SP settings and automatically find jobs (if set up properly).

If you wish to have these graduates find jobs in the field of study of all majors, you will have to make another Caste specifically for them.

- 3.1. Create a Caste to cover employment after graduation:

Select the CityHall and navigate through this pie selection NRaas> SP> Caste Options, choose "Add New Caste" from the selection menu. A prompt will ask you to give the Caste a name, name it anything you want, for clarity we'll name it "ZZ-UNI Careers" (since the system is alphanumeric sorted, this will put the Caste on near the bottom of the list, easier to find).

Find the newly made Caste in your list and open it, all interaction in this template will be shown blank, some will be seeping through from your Town Options (those that you see listed between parentheses (...) ) and doesn't do anything at the moment.

- 3.1.1. Setting up the ZZ-UNI Careers Caste, part one:

Select the following interactions in one go:
(Wait on pressing Accept till you selected all these interactions)
  • Career: Allow
  • Career: Allow Be Professor
  • Career: Allow Find Job
  • Career: Disallow
  • Caste: Automatic> (False)
  • Degree: Allow
  • Degree: Disallow
    • Press Accept

The selection/prompt box will appear in alphanumeric order:

Selection Box; Career: Allow, select (see sources on 2.):

NOTE:
  • For some careers listed above, you will need the specific EP to show on the list, if it isn't there you probably don't have the EP or don't have the building (Rabbit Hole building or rug) placed associated to the specific career.
  • Since actives are immune to this interaction and inactives don't gain any privileges (jump to level 5) when having a degree, you can add more careers (customs) to the list to your liking. Though remember that actives also don't gain privileges if it doesn't match its field of study (see above).
  • Also to note, some careers you rather not have are: Acrobat (Performance Artist), Ghost Hunter, Magician and Singer. If so, remove them from the "Career: Allow" list and put then in the "Career: Disallow" list.
    • press Accept

Selection Box; Career: Disallow, select:
  • All other Careers/Schools (including any Customs), except the ones listed in the interaction Career: Allow above in this section
    • press Accept

Selection Box; Degree: Allow, select:
  • Business
  • Communications
  • Fine Arts
  • Physical Education
  • Science & Medicine
  • Technology
    • press Accept

Selection Box; Degree: Disallow, select:
  • Education
    • press Accept

- 3.2.2. Setting up the ZZ-UNI Career Caste, part two:

Next, select the following interactions for the next query:
(Wait on pressing Accept till you selected all these interactions)

  • Career: Allow Be Professor> False ....... (comm: Yes again, it needs to be on True)
  • Career: Allow Find Job> False ....... (comm: Yes again, it needs to be on True)
  • Caste Filter: Match All Filters> (False)
  • Caste Filter: SimType
  • Caste: Age> (B,D,C,T,Y,A,E)
  • Caste: Species> (S,C,B,L,H)
    • Press Accept

A string of selection/prompt boxes will appear in alphanumeric order:

Selection Box; Caste Filter: Sim Type, select:
  • HasDegree
  • Resident
    • press Accept

Selection Box; Caste: Age, select (needs to be False):
  • Baby> (True)
  • Toddler> (True)
  • Children> (True)
  • Teenager> (True)
    • press Accept

Selection Box; Caste: Species, select (needs to be False):
  • Cat> (True)
  • Dog, Big> (True)
  • Dog, Little> (True)
  • Horse> (True)
    • press Accept

- 3.2.3. Checking your ZZ-UNI Career Caste and Caste Priority:

Once you done all the steps from 3.2.1 through 3.2.2 the results of your new Caste "ZZ-UNI Careers", it should look as this per the interaction you have changed, everything else should remain blank or settings that has seeped over from the Town Options (such noted within parentheses (...) after any interaction that has one) :
  • Career: Allow> 36
  • Career: Allow Be Professor> False
  • Career: Allow Find Job> True
  • Career: Disallow> 21 ....... (comm: Default Base Game and Expansion Careers/Schools, Part Time jobs and Self-Employed careers, it can be more when having custom careers/schools installed)
  • Caste Filter: Match All Filters> True
  • Caste Filter: SimType> 2
  • Caste: Age> Y,A,E
  • Caste: Automatic> True
  • Caste: Name> ZZ-UNI Careers
  • Caste: Species> S
  • Degree: Allow> 6
  • Degree: Disallow> 1

To finish the Caste setting, you will have to check your other Caste ZZ-UNI Selection on which Caste Priority it's been made and make this equal high (if the other is 2, make this also Caste: Priority> 2 for example). This ZZ-UNI Career Caste doesn't conflict with the ZZ-UNI Selection Caste, since they cover different "Sim Types".

After having done the Caste: Priority, you are done with this Caste and the next step is...

- 4. Supplying your Homeworld Uni with Professors and Tips:

Within StoryProgression you have 2 choices to pick from, either:
  • 1. Set up SP for automatic assignment of professor within:
    • select CityHall> NRaas> SP> General Options> Options: Careers> Options: Homeworld University (Requires module Careers SP and placed University Buildings (Rabbithole Buildings or Rugs) in your game), change the following:
      • Professor: Allow Quit Current Occupation> False (default) to True. This trigger will pull the selected Sim out from its current job if it has any. In any case have this always on True, if you play with a Homeworld Uni, otherwise it may conflict when the game is requesting it to give classes and its work schedule.
      • Professor: Allow Retired Elder> False (default). You can set this on true if your town is lacking unemployed Adult Residents.
      • Professor: Pay Per Hour> 1000 (default) . Your choice whether to increase or decrease it.
      • Professor: Enable Auto Assignment> False (default). If you would rather have SP to assign professors from your retired/unemployed residential sims pool to your Homeworld Uni, also those who haven't gotten a degree.

  • 2. Alternatively you can have your Caste System Pick Professors from your list who does have a degree:
    • change the following:
      • CityHall> NRaas> SP> Town Options> Career: Allow Be Professor> False (default on True)
      • Check in your list of Castes within NRaas> SP> Caste Options> "<Caste Names>" if anywhere else but the "ZZ-Uni Careers" the interaction "Career: Allow Be Professor" is set on True, if so change it to False
      • Change the interactions in your Options: Homeworld University Settings to (see 1. above):
        • Professor: Allow Quit Current Occupation> True.
        • Professor: Allow Retired Elder> True.

Both method needs some time to seed the Homeworld Uni with professors, so SP can check your Residents if they match the criteria. It will run accordingly:
  • - Find Sims with a degree, about 7 checks
  • - Find retired/unemployed Adult Sims, about 7 checks
  • - Find retired/unemployed Elder Sims, about 7 checks

TIPS:
  • If you wish to speeding up and surpass this process, give some random Sim a degree (you need 6 Sims, one for each major):
    • Click on a random Sim> NRaas> MasterController> Intermediate> Career> Academic Degree> (select a Major)> (prompt will show) fill in 8 (eight)
    • Repeat above with another random Sim and select another Major till you have covered all 6 in total.
  • At start of a new game, most of your placed/existing Residents don't have enough funds, if you used the interaction "Caste NetWorth: Min>" within Caste ZZ-UNI Selection, to get picked by the Caste Assignment. Lower the value to 5,000 Simoleons or whatever value you think is right or remove the interaction from the Caste. You will require some micromanagement to spread some cash around to households who may become bankrupt (MasterController mod). SP has an excellent notification system to warn you in advance when it happens.

This conclude the tutorial. Have fun and happy Simming.
