How does this mod work?

  • This mod uses the same percentage to calculate the tax as the one used to calculate bills. EA's default bill percentage is 1.3% of the Household Net Worth (furnished lot value + household funds).
  • If you are using a tuning mod to increase the bill percentage, the Tax Collector Mod will use this percentage instead of the EA default.
  • There is a Multiplyer within the Tax Collector Mod which can then be used to increase or decrease the tax percentage so it is higher or lower than the bill percentage.
  • The Tax Collector Mod is operated manually and is in addition to the normal bills your sims receive so they will be paying bills AND taxes. Generally, the Tax Collector Computer is used by a sim employed in the political career but you can have any sim you want in charge of the taxes in your town.
  • If you are still using rabbithole buildings, the Tax Collector Computer can be purchased by a sim in the political career and placed at their home. Or alternatively, if you have built your own political career building, you can place the Tax Collector Computer there and manually control one of your sims employed in the political career to take care of the taxes. This works very well with Zerbu's Ultimate Careers Mod.

How do I set up this mod to collect tax?

  • Place the Tax Collector Computer at your sim's home or at the City Hall lot if you have built your own and are not using rabbitholes
    • Click on: Tax Collector Computer > Tax Collector > Settings > Set Name for Object
    • Type in: "City Funds" or whatever you wish to name it
  • Make the list of households that you want to collect tax from
    • Click on: Tax Collector Computer > Tax Collector > Settings > Edit Taxable List
    • Select all the households you want by double clicking on them in the left pane
      • Note: There is no limit to the number of households you can add to this list (New Note)
  • (Optional) Change the EA default bill percentage using a tuning mod or the NRaas Retuner Mod
    • The EA default bill percentage is set to 1.3% of household net worth
    • If you wish to use Retuner follow these steps:-
      • Click on: City Hall or any computer > Nraas > Retuner > Settings > General > By Tunable XML >
        Sims3.Gameplay.Core > Mailbox > kPercentageOfWealthBilled
      • Enter the percentage you want in decimal format, for example 5% would be 0.05
      • Although this setting is optional and you may not wish to change it, it is recommended to check the value entered in the Retuner path mentioned above, to ensure it has a value greater than 0. The default value here should be 0.013 which equates to the EA default bill rate of 1.3%.
  • Place Donation Boxes on the community lots where you wish to spend the collected tax money and set their names as follows:-
    • Click on: Donation Box > Settings > Set Name for Object

What does "Set Donation Mood Value" do?

If your sim donates money to a Donation Box, they will receive a moodlet, the same as donating through the mailbox if your sim has the good trait. With this setting, you can define how much of a good (or bad) mood you want your sim to have. For example, if a Donation Box is placed at the park and your sim donates there, they will receive a positive moodlet. If however, the Donation Box is placed at the City Hall (or the bank if you have one in your town) to record the city's debt, when your sim donates there, they are just paying off the debt so it's not really a donation. Therefore, the value can be set to zero so they don't receive a moodlet at all.
