How To Designate Celebrity Careers Above A Certain Level

Anchor: [[The Celebrity System#CareerCelebrity]]

Question: Is there a way to designate celebrity careers above a certain level and have your sim continue to gain celebrity points as their career advances?

Answer: Yes there is with Version 265 of Story Progression as you are now able to assign the "Caste: Filter Career" and "Caste: Filter Career Level" (incorrectly named in v265 as "Debug:CasteCareerFilter:MenuName" but was corrected in v266).

Ensure you have Story Progression Base Mod and Relationship Module installed, then follow the instructions below:-

Disable the global celebrity options in town first:
  1. Click on the City Hall Building/Map Tag or any Computer
  2. Select: NRaas > Story Progresson > Town Options > "Friendship: Allow Celebrity" and "Friendship: Allow Celebrity Disgrace"
  3. Click the checkmark to change both of these to "False"
Note 1: If these two settings have altered within any other Caste, they will override the Town Options. They need to be reset using these instructions: Reset Caste

Next, remove the caste called "Disgrace by Age" as it also uses the settings above and is therefore unnecessary:
  1. Click on the City Hall Building/Map Tag or any Computer
  2. Select: NRaas > Story Progression > Caste Options > (Remove Caste)
  3. Select: "Disgrace by Age" from the list and click the checkmark

Now, create a new caste. The instructions below are using the Writer career as an example but of course you can choose any career you want:
  1. Click on the City Hall Building/Map Tag or any Computer
  2. Select: Nraas > Story Progression > Caste Options > (Add New Caste)
  3. Type the name for the new caste, for example "Celebrity For Writer Career"
  4. In the list that pops up, click on the new caste name that you just created: "Celebrity For Writer Career"
  5. Select "Caste: Automatic" and click the checkmark to change it to "True"
  6. Select "Caste Filter: Career" and click the checkmark
  7. Select "Writer" and click the checkmark
  8. Select: "Debug:CasteCareerFilter:MenuName" (Caste Filter: Career Level) and click the checkmark
  9. Select all the levels within the Writer career that you would like celebrity status to effect. For example, if you'd like your writer sim to be a celebrity once he/she reaches level 8 and stay a celebrity through levels 9 and 10, select "Writer 8", "Writer 9" and "Writer 10" then click the checkmark
  10. Check: "Caste Filter: Match All Filters" and make sure it is set to "False"
  11. Select: "Friendship: Allow Celebrity" (and if you want "Friendship: Allow Celebrity Disgrace") and click the checkmark to change these to "True"
  12. Exit back out from all the menus

This ensures that no-one in town will become a celebrity just by reading skill books or making friends etc. In this example, only sims within the Writer Career at level 8 or above, will become a celebrity. You can of course, create additional castes for any other careers you want to work like this.

There are also a variety of combinations possible, so you could reflect real life by using "Caste Filter: Skill" and set the charismatic skill at level 4 with the "Caste Required: Trait" set to "Diva".
